Jennifer Arnswald talked to us about integrating literacy into science instruction.  In science here has been a shift from delivering content to students to engaging students in experiences where they are analyzing, evaluating, and explaining phenomena.

Below is a graphic that shows the overlap between the ELA Common Core Standards, Common Core Math Practice Standards, and the Next Generation Science standards. This graphic highlights the higher level thinking students are called to do within all of the standards.

Integrating Technology

Mark Raffler, Matt Zokoe, Andrew Steinman, and Craig Steenstra presented on integrating technology into the classroom.

Kent Reading Council Digital Resources

Matt Zokoe presented ways to use technology in reading workshop.  Biblionasium is a way for students to track books they read.  Students can share the books they read, read book reviews, and join a digital community of readers. Matt also shared how he uses google forms to confer with readers!
